Parcours 6 - The Jungle Expedition

Theme: The floor is a swamp/lava. The children are explorers crossing a dangerous jungle. Total Duration: 45–60 Minutes. Space Requirement: Minimum 10x10 meters (Gym or large playroom).

  • Vestibular Stimulation: Navigating unstable surfaces stimulates the inner ear.
  • Tonus Regulation: Children must alternate between high tension (balancing) and relaxation.
  • Self-Efficacy: Overcoming “dangerous” obstacles builds confidence (“I made it across”).
  1. Station 1: The Swamp Crossing (Entry)

    • Setup: Place 5-8 Balance-Steine in a zigzag pattern, roughly 40-60cm apart.
    • Action: Jump or step from stone to stone. Touching the floor means “falling in the swamp” (must restart Station 1).
    • Teaching Point: Focus on quiet landings (sneaking past crocodiles).
  2. Station 2: The Broken Bridge

    • Setup: Connect Stapelbausteine with the Balanciersteg. Create an incline if possible (one side higher).
    • Action: Walk across the narrow beam.
    • Challenge: Place a beanbag on their head to ensure upright posture.
  3. Station 3: The Raft Ride

    • Setup: Mark a “River” using ropes/cones (approx 5 meters long). Place the Pedalo Classic at the start.
    • Action: Ride the Pedalo to the other bank.
    • Safety: Ensure the floor is clean/dry. Beginners can hold a rope held by the teacher.
  4. Station 4: The Stork Marsh

    • Setup: A designated zone for Stelzen walking.
    • Action: Walk on stilts from Point A to Point B.
    • Psychomotor Focus: Disassociation of arm and leg movements (arms pull up while legs push down).
  5. Station 5: The Hunter’s Rest (Cool Down)

    • Setup: A mat or bench.
    • Action: Sit down and successfully catch the ball in the Kugelfangspiel 3 times before re-entering the jungle.
    • Purpose: Lowers heart rate and refocuses fine motor skills after heavy gross motor work.
  • Warm-up (5 mins): “Shake the ants off” – rapid shaking of limbs.
  • The Run (30 mins): Children complete laps.
    • Phase 1: Free exploration.
    • Phase 2: “The Lava Rises” (Must move faster but safely).
    • Phase 3: Silent Run (Non-verbal communication only).
  • Reflection (10 mins): Sit in a circle. Ask: “Which obstacle was scariest? How did you overcome it?”
