Program Overview

The “Kinder in Bewegung” (Children in Movement) project addresses a critical challenge in modern childhood: the dramatic decline in physical activity and its impact on learning, development, and wellbeing.

Today’s children face unprecedented challenges to healthy development:

ChallengeImpact
Screen time overloadReduced physical activity, passive learning
Reduced outdoor playLess exploration, fewer motor challenges
Academic pressureMore sitting, less movement during school
Safety concernsChildren kept indoors, limited independence
UrbanizationFewer natural play spaces

Physical Effects

  • Poor posture and core strength
  • Reduced coordination and balance
  • Increased obesity rates
  • Delayed motor development

Cognitive Effects

  • Reduced concentration span
  • Learning difficulties
  • Poor reading/writing readiness
  • Decreased problem-solving ability

Social Effects

  • Difficulty with teamwork
  • Reduced frustration tolerance
  • Poor communication skills
  • Limited peer interaction

Emotional Effects

Movement is not a break from learning—it IS learning. Every physical activity builds neural pathways that support academic success:

Fine motor skillsHandwriting and drawing
Bilateral coordinationMath and spatial reasoning
Rhythm activitiesLanguage and communication

We use specially designed Pedalo equipment because:

  1. Made in Germany — High quality, sustainable materials
  2. Developmentally appropriate — Designed for children’s bodies and abilities
  3. Progressive challenge — Skill levels from beginner to advanced
  4. Group-focused — Encourages cooperation and communication
  5. Portable — Can be used in classrooms, gyms, and outdoors

Physical Competence

  • Improve gross motor skills (balance, coordination, strength)
  • Develop fine motor control (grip, precision, force regulation)
  • Build body awareness and spatial orientation
  • Create movement confidence and joy

Grade LevelAgeFocus Areas

The portable Bewegungsrucksack creates a bridge between school and home:

  1. School Learning — Children learn with equipment during structured lessons
  2. Home Practice — Rucksack goes home for family involvement
  3. Skill Transfer — Children teach family members what they learned
  4. Continuous Development — Practice reinforces school learning
